The Dexia Corporate University, more commonly referred to as the “DCU”, was created in 2005 to respond to the various needs arising from the Group’s expansion and its cosmopolitan identity. Since it was launched, it has benefited from the support of the Group’s top management. The latter is represented moreover, alongside HR representatives of the various entities and heads of divisions (Audit, Communication and so on) on the University Council, the decision-making body of the DCU. The University Council decides, among other activities, on the strategy of the DCU and defines its orientations and its mission.
The latter is to contribute on a constant basis to the evolution of the Group and to assist in the achievement of its human, organisational and financial objectives by:
• providing excellent development programmes to members of staff,
• playing a role in the creation of a Group culture, and
• facilitating the implementation of a Group strategy.
In order to accomplish that mission, the DCU has developed a broad range of training courses, organised in six separate faculties:
• Leadership & Management
• Sales & Business Development
• Finance & Risk Management
• Tax & Legal
• Operations & Technology
• Communication & Languages.
These fields cover both the aspects relating to the capacities of management and the leadership model and the more technical subjects associated with banking and insurance activities. There are training courses on new financial regulations, such as Basle II, the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and even projects specific to Dexia. It is the University Council which ensures that programmes correspond to the needs of Dexia at present and to the needs of Dexia in the future.
The range offered by the DCU is aimed at everyone and helps the members of staff to develop at every stage in their career. Although personal development courses are aimed more particularly at managers, to assist them in managing their teams in the optimum manner according to the leadership model, the DCU also offers courses intended for all members of staff on cross-company problems (initiation courses for new employees, e-learning in office automation or languages, information on the world of finance, etc.). There is even an extremely rewarding programme training junior executives with international mobility, the Marco Polo Programme.
These six faculties make the DCU an efficient and indeed a vital structure within a Group as vast and as complex as Dexia because it:
• makes an active contribution to the development of a Group culture and its common values,
• facilitates international mobility within Dexia,
• stimulates strategic thought, and
• offers top-quality training courses as well as real opportunities for personal development.
